During the time I lived in the USA, I had some frightening experiences, but one of them became the most frightening experience I have ever had in my life.
It happened when I was learning how to drive. At that time, I felt very, very insecure. I felt more insecure than a child when she is taking her first steps.
One day, I felt a little more confident. So, I took the car and drove from Harrison to Paterson. On the way, I got lost. On that day, Route 21 seemed to be the busiest road in the world. Everyone was speeding past me and my heart started beating faster and faster. I got thirsty and very lonely. Then, I stopped near a school and tried to ask for directions, but I was nervous because my English was not so good. It was weaker than it is now.
Fortunately, I met a nice Polish woman who helped me by showing the way. I followed the directions she gave me and suddenly I saw a very familiar church. When I entered, one of our sisters was there. I breathed a sigh of relief. She nicely offered me some water and helped me to find my way home.
After that, everything was fine, but I will never forget my most frightening experience of my life, so far.
